I am not asking who you think the best teams are, I am asking you to rate your top week one performances based on actually how well the team played not how shocking a outcome may be AKA Jacksonville State may have the most shocking win but it didn't play a game that was top 10 worthy. My current list (very open to criticism and I really want to see how people from around the country interpret the games played so far). 1. Oregon - Posting a 72 point win over any FBS team is astounding, heck beating a Division 2 team that badly would be hard... You hit a point when you get up about 60 points that its hard to score more due to the other team running the clock. 2. Boise State - Yes a few mental lapses let VT back in the game after Boise State showed that they could easily dominate them but the fact remains that Boise State defeated the highest ranked team to lose this week. 3. TCU - Defeating Oregon State is nothing to turn your nose up at but I would be open to debate whether barely beating a team ranked in the low 20's or blowing out a team from a lower FBS conference is a better result. 4. Georgia - Absolutely destroyed a FBS team albeit a Sun Belt team but it was a train wreck. 5. Utah - Knocking off Pitt who was ranked 15th at the time is pretty impressive, had they won in regulation this performance would have been my #3. 6. Arizona - Completely dominated Toledo above and beyond what an average BCS team would do, essentially you would have to be a top 10 team to expect to come close to dominating that team to that extent. 7. Ohio State - Pretty soundly beat Marshal, I had a hard time debating on which was better Arizona or Ohio St. the tie breaker was that Arizona allowed 0 points on defense against similar competition. 8.Mississippi State - Gave Memphis a pretty impressive beat down. 9. Alabama - A very solid win but it was against a very weak FBS team and it was also at home with 100,000 screaming fans overwhelming the star struck team. All the games I ranked above them were against harder competition or had similar scores under less favorable conditions. 10. South Carolina - A very solid beat down against a very good Southern Miss team that could play in any BCS conference this year and not finish last. Honorable mentions - Nebraska, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Mizz, Michigan , Wisconsin and any big name program that destroyed a FCS team.... Read More »
